Dawn Porter is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work has appeared on HBO, PBS, Discovery, and Netflix among others.

In 2020 during the pandemic, she released the acclaimed films John Lewis: Good Trouble, on the legacy of late Congressman John Lewis’ pivotal role in the Civil Rights movement and decades of political and social activism; and The Way I See It, about photojournalist Pete Souza, who served as Chief Official White House photographer for President Barack Obama. Dawn also directed and produced the four-hour Netflix original series Bobby Kennedy for President, which was released in 2018.


Dawn Porter’s films have brought perspective in a time of uncertainty, and shed light where Americans are seeking introspection about the state of our democracy, and its cultural and political moment.

Dawn is currently directing and executive producing an Apple TV multi-part documentary series with Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, which focuses on both mental illness and mental well-being. Other current projects include the documentary Vernon Jordan: Make It Plain which explores Vernon Jordan’s rise from the segregated South to become one of the most influential African American thought leaders in America. Chloe Gbai, Director, IF/Then Shorts at Field of Vision

Chloe Gbai is an Emmy-nominated producer and the Director of IF/Then Shorts at Field of Vision, a program that identifies and supports original, standalone short documentaries by filmmakers working in and representing their communities. Previously, as the POV Shorts and Streaming Producer, she launched POV Shorts, which, in its first season, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Short, two Emmy nominations and an IDA Awards nomination for Best Short Form Series. She is a proud member of Brown Girls Doc Mafia, a 2020 Impact Partners Producing Fellow, and a member-in-residence of the Meerkat Media Collective.
